In keeping with our promise to deliver
diverse programming, we are proud to announce a new
Sunday Afternoon Recital Series. The first
recital will feature Tsun-Hui Hung,
who
is a master of a Chinese stringed instrument called the erhu. Ms. Hung
holds a B.A. in erhu performance from the Chinese Culture University,
Taiwan, and is currently a graduate student of music composition at Ohio
University, Athens.
Ms. Hung has won many awards, including
first prize in the national erhu competition in Taiwan. She was selected
to participate in Rising Stars of Chinese Music 2005, and performed in
the National Concert Hall in Taiwan. She is active in both solo and
collaborative performances and has played with many major orchestras,
including the Taipei Symphony Orchestra and the National Chinese Opera
Company.
Ms. Hung will be accompanied by
Mariah Carrel, piano, and
Ellis Seiberling, guitar.
This program will also include pianists Megan
Lavengood and Zachary Lynn. Both Ms.
Lavengood and Mr. Lynn are undergraduate students majoring in piano
performance at Ohio University. They will be performing selections
from the Classical literature. |
